Lighting in the lobby of the Walloon Parliament

Context:

Following the request of the Walloon Parliament, an assessment of the lighting situation in the basement lobby has been carried out. The aim was to improve the lighting atmosphere while respecting the architectural constraints of the space, particularly highlighting the stone walls.

Identified Issues:

During the analysis, a major issue was identified: the absence of electrical outlets at the wall level. The only available sockets were located on the floor, which significantly limited the options for traditional wall lighting solutions.

Proposed Solution :

To address this constraint, we opted for a light fixture equipped with an electric cable and a plug, thus allowing us to bypass the lack of wall power supply. This technical choice enabled the installation of wall lights projecting a grazing light onto the stone walls, thereby creating an aesthetic effect that enhances the natural texture of the materials.

Results:

The installation of the new light fixtures has significantly improved the atmosphere of the lobby. The low-angle light highlights the architectural details of the stone, while creating a warm and welcoming ambiance suitable for this institutional space.
